MY MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS…
I believe you will find your answer here, but if not, feel free to email me at tricia@triciacaracappa.com
HOW DO I BUY AN ORIGINAL? I work in collections, which means I create a series of original art and release them all together in collections on my website a few times a year. I announce the release dates before hand through social media and my mailing list. These are one of a kind, so when the original is purchased, it’s gone to its forever home. If you want to be in-the-know and grab an original, the best way is to get on my mailing list. To cover all your bases, join my mailing list and follow me on Instagram! Here is a link to originals available in my store today.
CAN I COMMISSION A PAINTING? I am taking a break from commissions so that I can create more available artwork for my collectors. I plan to create throughout the year (all different sizes and colors). I’m sure you’ll find something that seems was created with exactly you in mind, so follow me on social media and sign up for my mailing list. If this ever changes, I'll be announcing it to my mailing list first.
DO YOU OFFER PRINTS? At the moment, I only offer originals, but I do plan to offer prints in the not too distant future. When I do, you’ll see me post and email about it.
FRAMING: I highly encourage framing all your prints and originals. Not only do they look incredibly beautiful framed, but it will help to protect your fresh artwork from wear and dust. I do not currently offer framing from my studio, but I am working on a tutorial on framing, so check in on my free goodies to see if I’ve finished that framing tutorial!
Your local frame shops can create a custom frame for your piece and you will get to pick out just the right frame to elevate the artwork in your home. And you get the added enjoyment of shopping local!
I love wooden floater frames for my canvas originals (this is when the frame hovers alongside the edge of the art almost like the canvas is magically floating inside the frame). My canvases are gallery wrapped (this is when the canvas is stretched onto a hidden support frame and secured with staples hidden on the backside allowing the painted canvas to extend around the front of the art to the sides). I paint the sides of my originals, so if you really prefer no frame, then that is an option for a more casual look. But the frame is like painting the trim on your house….it gives it that finished, wow look.
Don’t forget a mat for your flat originals! Matting a print or flat original is even more important than framing a stretched canvas. It looks SO finished.
HOW IS MY ARTWORK GOING TO BE SHIPPED?
Originals:
Original paintings require varnish and take a substantial amount of time to dry. I will not ship a painting before it is ready to be tightly packaged (please allow about 4-8 weeks).
All artwork is wrapped in paper, padded extremely well, and sent in a well-fitting sturdy cardboard box.
(Domestic) Most artwork will ship via USPS or UPS and most packages arrive within a week of shipping and includes tracking & insurance.
(International) Buyers, please note that shipping charges may vary from the estimated amount you pay at checkout. International packages are a bit outside of my control. Boarder fees, duties, and handling fees may be charged by other countries. Tracking is also quite unreliable with international shipments. Please email me with questions or to get an estimate.
Large artwork that is 48 inches or larger is best sent un-stretched and rolled in a sturdy tube. I then work with a local framer to build the support bars and stretch the canvas. This usually costs about $200, depending on the size and location, but would be less than shipping the large artwork fully stretched.
If you prefer to ship large artwork fully stretched, then a freight service is required to handle the painting with care and deliver it to your living room. Shipping costs are much higher and can vary greatly. As always, clear communication between artist and collector usually helps make shipping a smooth process, so count on a few emails before finalizing all of those shipping details.
In all cases, shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on package weight and distance. It’s difficult to accurately calculate every possible shipping scenario. So, if there is any discrepancy (-/+) we will let you know via email. We will let you know if any additional charges need to be added for shipping.
Shipping costs cover fees, packaging supplies, time, labor, and storage.
CAN I PICK UP MY ARTWORK FROM YOUR STUDIO? Absolutely! You are also welcome & encouraged to pick up your original artwork in person at my studio in Katonah, New York. Use the code “StudioPickup" at checkout to forgo shipping fees altogether and we will work out a time to meet. Email me after purchase at tricia@triciacaracappa.com. My studio hours vary greatly as I am juggling a full workload, including design projects that take me to job sites, not to mention a busy family, but I can usually make it work (especially for original paintings!) Please note that original paintings still require varnish and take a substantial amount of time to dry. I will not schedule a studio pickup before it is ready to be transported (please allow about 4-8 weeks).
RETURNS: My goal is for you to be thrilled with your purchase, so every sale is handled with care and as much clarity and transparency as possible. Because of this, all sales are final except in certain situations. Please take the time to carefully read descriptions, especially sizes and closely check colors on multiple screens, if you are concerned about color variations. I try my best to represent the colors and tones in my work honestly and clearly. If you believe you have a special situation, please email tricia@triciacaracappa.com.
DO YOU OFFER WORKSHOPS OR CLASSES? Not yet, but I have been thinking about it. If you are interested, definitely get on my mailing list because if and when I do offer workshops and classes, my mailing list will be the first to know about them.
STOCKISTS & GALLERIES: I am honored you would like my artwork on your walls and in your shop! Gallery owners, please send me an email to discuss your gallery and ideas.
PRESS: I love working with bloggers, editors, stylists, and writers! There are many images on my site that I would agree with you using in your article, but I require that you let me know about your plans and clearly credit both me and my photographers. If you have any questions, please email me. I am always open to interviews and love sharing my story with the world!
WHO ACTUALLY OWNS THE PAINTING? I retain all rights to all artwork I create. This includes the rights to the image of sold & commissioned original paintings. I ALSO RETAIN THE RIGHTS TO MAKE REPRODUCTIONS OF ANY AND ALL ARTWORK I CREATE UNLESS THE COLLECTOR HAS PURCHASED THE FULL OR PARTIAL RIGHTS TO THE ARTWORK (this is in addition to purchasing the original). The Collector or buyer may not reproduce the artwork in any way without written permission.
If the artwork ends up being reproduced in a magazine or other media, I only ask for credit.
When you purchase an original painting, you (the collector) have the right to display the artwork in your home or business but the artwork may not be resold ore reproduced without my permission.
Please contact me know if you are interested in purchasing full or partial rights to your painting. Some collectors chose to purchase my right to reproduce the artwork to ensure it will never become a print. I am happy to discuss that with you if you would like.
